Over 100 years of caring
for our

Armed Forces Families

Looking for friendship, enjoy fundraising but most of all fun, then please come and see what your local Branch of the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion has to offer.

Our legacy of care and support

The British Legion Women's Section was formed in 1921 to safeguard the interests of widows and families of ex-servicemen.  It provided a way for women to be part of the British Legion and to widen its activities.
On the 50th anniversary of formation, the organisation was granted its 'Royal' status on 29 May 1971.

Established to provide a unique space for women to contribute to the Royal British Legion's vital work, today we focus on welfare, remembrance, education, and the well-being of service personnel, veterans, and their families.

A strong foundation of support

Our members are the heart of our organisation, working tirelessly to uphold our values and deliver essential services.

“The support I received from the Women's Section after my husband's service was invaluable. They truly care.”

— Sarah J., beneficiary

“Being part of this community has been incredibly rewarding. Knowing I'm making a difference means everything.”

— Helen T., member

“The educational grant helped my daughter achieve her dream. We are eternally grateful to the Royal British Legion Women's Section.”

— Mark P., father of beneficiary
